Prepare Before Disasters Strike in Christian County

Older adults are disproportionately impacted by disasters, often representing the majority of fatalities resulting from extreme weather, natural hazards and public emergencies.

The Pennyrile Area Development District, the American Red Cross and AARP Kentucky are joining forces to help older adults prepare before disaster strikes (flooding, severe weather, and home fires). Local residents at the forum will be eligible to register for smoke detector installation with the American Red Cross. AARP Kentucky is providing resources to secure important personal documents (personal ID documents, financial/legal documents, and medical records) in the event of an emergency evacuation of their home due to a natural disaster or emergency.
