New Communications Director Announced
HOPKINSVILLE, KY, (April 1, 2022) - Pennyrile Area Development District (PADD) announced the appointment of Melissa Thompson to Communications Director, effective immediately.
“Melissa has established herself as a superb professional with a deep understanding of the unique needs of our organization and brings to this position a wealth of experience in the areas of communication and marketing in the public service sector,†said Jason Vincent, Executive Director of PADD.
In this new role, Thompson will be responsible for PADD’s overall communication strategies including branding, public relations, web presence and social media, as well as providing support to the Executive Director, Senior Management Team, and PADD Board of Directors.
“I am excited and honored to transition into this new role,†Thompson said. “Communication, whether through verbal, written or digital means, has always been my passion.†She continued, “I look forward to telling the stories of how our dedicated staff are making the Pennyrile region a better place to live.â€
Thompson joined the PADD staff as a Workforce Liaison in 2005 to assist with data entry and technology related tasks for the West Kentucky Workforce Board (WKWB). She quickly began managing workforce public relation efforts by promoting activities, programs, projects and major events. Later, she designed, created, and maintained both the PADD and WKWB websites and managed all social media outlets for both entities.
Thompson is an alumna of Murray State University with a Master of Science degree in Organizational Communication. She enjoys creating visual concepts to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate people. Her and her husband, Dustin, reside, work, and attend church in Hopkinsville with their daughter, Mailee.
