June 2021 PADD Board of Directors Meeting
Pennyrile Area Development District held their monthly Board of Directors meeting on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. CT. Guest speaker U.S. Congressman James Comer stated he spent the last three weeks visiting in the Pennyrile region. He provided an update on activity in DC, discussed the prospects of an infrastructure bill, and the work he is doing with local officials to get answers on funding for Land Between the Lakes.
Updates were also provided by Morgan Alvey, U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, KY State Representatives Chris Freeland and Melinda Gibbons Prunty, and Elton Thomas with the Department for Local Government.
Jill Collins, Pennyrile AAAIL Director, provided aging updates and reported senior centers are scheduled to reopen on July 1, 2021. Amy Frogue, Associate Director – CED, provided updates on funding opportunities for water and sewer projects, broadband projects, and reported that 25 COVID relief loans have been made impacting 269 jobs. Sheila Clark, WKWB Director, provided an update on Direct Services and One Stop Operator proposals, career center and job fair activities.
Judge Steve Tribble, PeADD Nominating Committee Chairman, provided a nominating report recommending reappointments and new appointments to the PeADD Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2021. Nominations were approved as presented.
Judge Perry Newcom, Board Chairman, recognized board members celebrating milestone years of service and thanked outgoing board members for their service and dedication. Jason Vincent, PeADD Executive Director, recognized staff celebrating milestone years of service and expressed appreciation to those outgoing board members for their leadership and support.
