June 2020 PADD Board of Directors Meeting
The PADD Board of Directors held a virtual meeting on Monday, June 8, 2020. Federal/State Reports were provided by KY State Representative Melissa Gibbons Prunty, Morgan Alvey, Field Rep. for U. S. Senator Mitch McConnell, Corey Elder, Field Rep. for U.S. Congressman Comer and Jason Hasert, Field Rep. for U.S. Senator Rand Paul.
Amy Frogue, Associate Director – CED, provided an update on funding opportunities and presented a resolution amending the PeADD Revolving Loan Fund Plan which was approved by the board. Jill Collins, AAAIL Director, provided an update on aging programs and clients served noting June 15, 2020 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Sheila Clark, WKWB Director, provided an update on workforce activities and shared a snapshot of the labor market as of April 2020. The U.S. unemployment rate is at 14.4% and the KY unemployment rate is at 16.1%; those numbers have since increased.
Judge Executive Steve Tribble, PADD Nominating Chair, reported the Nominating Committee met on June 2, 2020 to review board reappointments, new appointments and officers with recommendation to reappoint Bart Frazer(Crittenden Co), Terry Stringer (Livingston Co), Lee Wilson (Lyon Co) and new appointments Mayor Chris Smiley (City of Dawson Springs) and Deb Domke (Lyon Co) to serve a three year term on the board of directors. The committee also recommended the FY 20-21 slate of officers: Judge Executive Perry Newcom (Board Chair), Judge Executive Hollis Alexander (Vice Chair), Crissy Carter (Treasurer), and Mayor Jan Yonts (Secretary). All recommendations were approved by the board as presented.
Jason Vincent, PADD Executive Director, recognized board members and staff celebrating milestone years of service. View those recognized here. He also recognized two outgoing board members for their service to the board and the Pennyrile region: Denise Sutton (Lyon Co) and Jenny Sewell (Hopkins Co). Mr. Vincent also reported on activities of the Executive Committee, PD&GC Board, PeADD’s Healthy at Work Plan, distribution and availability of PPE, and commended local government on their leadership and PADD staff on continuing to support the communities of the Pennyrile region.
