Senior Center Closures in Pennyrile Region
Pennyrile Area Development District and Pennyrile Allied Community Services
On March 13, 2020, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear recommended the temporary closure of Senior Centers across Kentucky to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Therefore, all nine (9) Senior Centers in the Pennyrile Region will be temporarily closed from March 16, 2020 until further notice and alternate service delivery methods will be implemented. After two (2) weeks, officials will reevaluate the situation in our areas by consulting with the Governor’s Office, local health departments, state health officials, and the Kentucky Department for Aging & Independent Living.
In-home services will continue to be provided as well as transportation services. All in-home service staff are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines. An alternate plan will be implemented for providing meals to the congregate clients (“drive thru” meals). Please call your local Senior Center for further information and to make reservations for “drive thru” meals, beginning Monday, March 16, 2020.
This is an issue that we have not encountered before and we appreciate your flexibility and patience as we navigate through the upcoming weeks. All updates will be posted via the Pennyrile Area Development District website and social media platforms.
Please refer questions to your local Senior Center or the Pennyrile Area Development District.
