Executive Director Hired to Lead Bi-State Fort Campbell Defense Alliance Effort
The Fort Campbell Strong Regional Defense Alliance Board of Directors announces the selection of retired Command Sergeant Major Rory Malloy as the organization’s first Executive Director. Malloy is a former Sergeant Major policy advisor to the Assistant Secretary of the Army at the Pentagon and currently serves as an Executive Coach for the True Growth Leadership Course for Brigade/Battalion Commanders and Command Sergeants Major. Malloy’s official start date is January 12, 2018.
During his career, Sgt. Major Malloy was twice stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, for a total of nine years served at the installation. In addition to his experience in Washington D.C. and at Fort Campbell, Malloy served as Commandant of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy in Fort Bliss, TX and served in senior executive leader roles at Fort Hood, TX and Fort Polk, LA.
Originally from Campbellsburg, IN, Malloy returned to Fort Campbell in April 2017 where he and his wife retired to be with their children and grandchildren. The couple currently resides in Clarksville, TN.
Malloy is a well-known and highly respected senior Army leader whose skills and experience will be an ideal fit to get the Fort Campbell Strong Defense Alliance organization off the ground and running. Carter Hendricks, Mayor of the City of Hopkinsville, KY and Fort Campbell Strong Defense Alliance Board Co-Chair, comments, “We are excited about hiring CSM (RET) Rory Malloy to serve as our first Executive Director for the Fort Campbell Strong Defense Alliance. With his proven leadership record, established knowledge of Fort Campbell, and outstanding connections in the Pentagon and throughout the Army, we are confident CSM (RET) Malloy is the right choice at this pivotal time in the organization’s development.” John Mahre, Board Treasurer and Executive Committee member adds, “We are impressed with CSM (RET) Rory Malloy’s record of communication, connection and creativity. These skills will prove invaluable as Mr. Malloy establishes relationships with businesses, organizations and officials throughout our six county region as well as making Fort Campbell Strong known locally and beyond.”
The Fort Campbell Strong initiative is a collaborative effort that began in 2015 to define a path for economic diversification and growth in the six-county region surrounding Fort Campbell including Christian, Todd, and Trigg counties in Kentucky along with Montgomery, Stewart, and Robertson counties in Tennessee. The Fort Campbell Regional Defense Alliance will provide a dedicated, unified voice on matters involving Fort Campbell and the surrounding region with a primary goal to support the overall health of the region’s military and defense sector through economic and workforce development activities. Jeff Truitt, Montgomery County Government Chief of Staff and Board Co-Chair states, “The Fort Campbell Strong Defense Alliance is something our community needs to be really excited about and bringing CSM (RET) Malloy on board should only elevate that excitement level. We are fortunate to have such a well-connected and driven individual steering the course as we organize and align the defense alliance moving forward. This groundbreaking six county effort to create the area’s first consolidated and organized alliance to advocate and protect our asset in Fort Campbell will one day be looked upon as a pivotal moment in our region. I hope this is just the beginning of many more partnerships you see crossing state lines and aligning our communities.”
The Pennyrile Area Development District, the regional planning and development organization that serves west Kentucky’s nine county Pennyrile region, serves as the administrative agent for the Fort Campbell Strong initiative and will be the fiscal agent for the Fort Campbell Strong Defense Alliance.
