The PADD Board of Directors held its Annual Christmas Luncheon
The PADD Board of Directors held its Annual Christmas Luncheon on Monday, December 12th at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park. Ms. Gina Winchester, KY Department of Parks, welcomed guests. Federal reports were provided by Mr. Tim Thomas (Congressman Mitch McConnell), Mr. Jason Hasert (Senator Rand Paul), and Ms. Sandy Simpson (Congressman James Comer). A look ahead to the 2017 Legislative Session was provided by Senators C.B. Embry, Jr., Stan Humphries, Dorsey Ridley, Whitney Westerfield and Representatives Lynn Bechler and Jim Gooch, Jr. PADD Board Chair Lori Harper presented Representative Brent Yonts with an award from the PADD Board of Directors in appreciation of his Outstanding Service to the Citizens of the Pennyrile region. Representative- Elect Walker Thomas stated he is honored to represent District 8 and is looking forward to serving the citizens of the Pennyrile region in this capacity. Legislators shared that much of the focus in this session will be on legislation such as economic development and job creation, tax modernization, pension reform, US 641, I-69 and Breathitt Parkway completion, juvenile justice reform, and coal severance tax. With a short 30 day session in January, priority legislation will take precedence. Jason Vincent, PADD Executive Director, expressed his appreciation to all the Legislators for their leadership and support of Pennyrile ADD.
