Pennyrile Area Development District Holds 47th Annual Meeting
A crowd of over 500 gathered at the James E. Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville, KY on June 13th to celebrate the 47th Annual Dinner Meeting of the Pennyrile Area Development District.
The annual event, sponsored by Planters Bank of Hopkinsville, gives all local officials, legislators, business and civic leaders, and others from throughout the Pennyrile the opportunity to look back on the year’s activities.
Kentucky State Treasurer Allison Ball introduced special guest Kentucky Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton who remarked on her humble beginnings, her role as Lieutenant Governor, and the importance of working together as a region.
PADD presented the W.W. “Bill” Bryan Memorial Award to Mr. Mike Hancock, former Secretary of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The award was presented by Caldwell County Judge Executive Ellen Dunning in recognition of his public service, stating “Mike Hancock has been a strong, steady force, providing invaluable leadership in transportation, not only to the Pennyrile region, but to this great Commonwealth”.
In other business, Board Members were recognized for five years of service to the PADD Board
of Directors: Judge Daryl Greenfield – Judge Executive for Todd County; Mayor David Jackson –City of Madisonville; Judge Perry Newcom – Judge Executive for Crittenden County; Mayor Nancy Slaton – City of Eddyville; and Judge Wade White – Judge Executive for Lyon County. A total of nine PADD Staff who reached milestones of service were also recognized.
In presenting the Annual Report, Executive Director Jason Vincent thanked all those who contributed to the mission of PADD and stated that the Area Development Districts’ goals of regionalism, sound planning, efficient coordination of programs, and support to local government are more important now than they were 47 years ago.
Mentalist Eric Dittelman and Guitarist Alonzo Pennington provided entertainment for the evening.
