Kentucky Family Caregiver Program
When parents are absent or unable to raise their children, grandparents are often the ones who step in. Raising a grandchild brings many rewards, including giving your grandkids a sense of security, developing a deeper relationship with them, and keeping the family together. It also comes with challenges and with the right support, you can make a real difference in the lives of your grandchildren.
The Kentucky Caregiver Program was established to assist Grandparents Raising Grandchildren who meet the low-income requirement and whose grandchildren reside in their home without the parent. Providing supportive services and financial assistance for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren, our mission is to serve grandparents of any age who are caring for their grandchildren.

To qualify, a grandparent shall meet criteria below:
- Be a KY resident.
- Be the primary caregiver for a grandchild.
- Be related to the grandchild, who is no more than 18 years of age, by birth, marriage or adoption.
- Reside with the grandchild and not with either parent in the same home.
- Not receive a monthly payment for KINSHIP Care.
- Not have a household income that exceeds 150% of the federal poverty level.
