Disclaimer for the
100 Year FEMA Flood Plain Map & Information
Last Updated Oct 2018

The Muhlenberg County 100 Year Flood Plain Map on this site is intended to provide only preliminary research on the 100 Year Flood Plain for Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. However, this is NOT the Official FEMA Flood Plain MAP.  The Official FEMA 100 Year Flood Plain Map is located at: www.fema.gov. Before anyone enters into a Purchase Agreement to buy property, start any building project, or start grading or in-fill on a property, you need to check the FEMA web site (www.fema.gov) and determine whether the property is in a FEMA 100 Year Flood Plain.  The Muhlenberg County 100 Year Flood Plain Map on this site should not be used as the basis for any determination.

It is important to note that even the properties identified outside FEMA 100 Year Flood Plain does not mean that other areas close to these identified 100 Year Flood Plains will not flood.  For example, it is possible for there to be 200 year storms that flood beyond the 100 Year Flood Plain.  It is also possible that the FEMA map is not 100 percent accurate, but it is the resource that banks will use to make decisions on whether Flood Insurance is required. If you need a loan for a home or business inside the FEMA 100 Year Flood Plan, banks will require you to purchase Flood Insurance to get a mortgage.  If you plan on building a home or business in a FEMA 100 Year Flood Plain, you will need to get a Permit from the Kentucky Division of Water (www.water.ky.gov) as well as a city or county Building Permit. Site grading and construction in a FEMA 100 Year Flood Plain is also under the jurisdiction of Kentucky Division of Water, which has a “no net fill” policy. Fill is not allowed without off-setting it somewhere in the same watershed.
