Geographic Information Systems & GPS GIS links spatial, mapping data with tabular data files to present information overlays in map format to display relationships and patterns that otherwise wouldn't be clear. PADD collects, integrates, and distributes GIS data and services within our region.
Recent activities of PADD GIS include providing assistance to several local businesses in planning activites to improve their economic position, many of our counties Emergency Operations Centers after the January 2009 ice storm, and working on the Local Update of Census Addresses for Christian and Muhlenberg Counties, along with ongoing open contract activities for the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority. We regularly work with local government entities on special projects, and can quickly produce short notice "quick maps" to assist in decision making and planning.
Road Centerline File Maintenance
PADD has had a contract to maintain the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet GPS road centerline files for years. Changes to the county road system (new roads, closures, name changes) should be reported to PADD GIS, along with copies of Fiscal Court documents making the changes.
PADD GIS has just submitted all known updates to County maintained roads in the region to the Transportation Cabinet in anticipation of the decennial adjustment to the County Road Aid Program.
