Kentucky Caregiver Program
​In 2007 in order to meet the needs of grandparents raising their grandchildren, the state of Kentucky established the Kentucky Family Caregiver Support Program. It allows up to $500 per grandchild, per year for such things as educational supplies, children’s clothing, uncovered medical expenses, legal expenses, respite assistance, personal care items. Other supportive services including support groups, counseling, trainings and assistance in gaining access to other services.

Grandparents who apply must provide proof of several things including:
  •  They are a Kentucky resident
  •  They are the primary caregiver of the grandchildren
  •  They are related by blood, through marriage, or adoption to grandchildren
  •  They have an income 150% of the poverty level or below
  •  They are not a recipient of Kinship Care for that grandchild
  •  The parent of the child does not live in the home
  •  The ability to receive funds will only come after eligibility is established

The Kentucky Family Caregiver Program is just for Grandparents and has no age minimum on grandparents.  It does, however, have income restrictions.  Click on the Kentucky Family Caregiver Program link to get more information.
